Dispute Resolution Support

Two exciting positions available to provide administrative support for a broad range of litigation matters; great opportunity to gain insight into legal career/looking for experience in interesting and busy environment. They will process / open new matters; source judgements; keep folders up to date with pleadings and client documentation; proofread/amend documentation; draft simple letters for serving; file and prepare documents; carry out conflict checks; allocate Advocate/Legal Adviser to attend Police Headquarters; liaise with law firm on Legal Aid matters; liaise with States of Jersey Police and Customs & Immigration to request disclosure; liaise with Probation Service to follow up on probation/psychological/psychiatric reports; contact Magistrates Court and Youth Court to request papers, notes and client names, file duty notes and request credits from Legal Aid; lodge calls with Prison and book meetings with clients in custody; request funds for and liaise with interpreters to book meetings.
Graduates considered with minimum 2:1 degree (law degree not essential) and also school leavers with excellent academic results; excellent organisational, analytical and IT skills, specifically excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Professional/Pdf Docs; able to work under pressure with minimal supervision and to tight deadlines; strong verbal and written skills; ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision and to tight deadlines.
Five years continuous residence in Jersey required. Roles are permanent but would consider candidates who may have finished school or graduated and would prefer a contract position while deciding their future direction.
