Private Debt Analyst

Our client seeks the ideal candidate to support Risk Team and Investment Team in their commercial activities. Duties will involve originating potential financing deals and reviewing the quality and suitability of mining projects; structuring and negotiating debt deals with counterparties and with their representatives; evaluating expected returns and risks which may involve modelling derivative and physical purchase and sale contracts; running the hedge/futures/forwards book for specific deals (primarily commodity exposures); debt restructuring and recovery from distressed situations; coordinating technical, legal and financial due diligence and finalizing execution documents; presenting to current and potential limited partner investors; forming opinions on commodity prices and economic conditions to the extent that they may affect investment outcomes; initiating and maintaining relationships within the mining industry and its ancillary industries; overseeing administration and booking keeping; conducting market research; assisting with production of investor relations materials. Training will be on the job.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an advanced level numerical reasoning and analytical ability and ability to solve complex problems; strong presentation and communication skills; demonstrate interest in corporate finance, commodities, mining industry and investment industry generally; initiative; self-motivated and able to independently learn new skills; well organised and logical; have a Chartered Accountancy qualification/at least 2 years investment banking experience and a first or upper second-class degree from a leading university. It is desirable, though not essential, that the candidate has worked in a finance capacity with private equity or private debt funds previously. The ability to construct and use discounted cash flow and comparable companies analysis will also be helpful.
Five years continuous residence in Jersey required.
