The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) came into force on 10 May 2018 with the aim of enhancing privacy rights. We at Thomas & Dessain are committed under the terms of the GDPR to preserving your privacy which we uphold through the Data Protection Act 2018, the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018 and the Data Protection Authority (Jersey) Law 2018, and we set out here in this Notice how your data which you provide to us will be processed by us, to which we require your consent.
Data we Collect
When you register with us and use our services, you provide us with data, which we collect. This data
includes:
Personal Data – your first and family names, date of birth, address, email address, phone number, and source of enquiry.
Professional Data – information on your current employment such as your job title and employer, area of expertise, whether seeking permanent or temporary work, full or part time hours, your availability and your curriculum vitae.

The data we collect is provided by you providing information on our company website and giving us consent to collect this information by confirming your agreement.
How we Use your Data
With your consent, we will use your data:
To create your profile and enter your data on our secure database and hardware drive.
To transfer your data to prospective employers in the event of a prospective job.
To contact you about prospective jobs.
How we Share and Disclose your Data
With prospective employers after obtaining your consent.
In the event of merger with, or acquisition by, another business.
If and when we are required by law or a legal process to disclose that data, such as a valid court order or a valid subpoena.
If and when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond, or respond to a valid government request. To enforce our terms and conditions or to protect our operations or users.
How long we Keep your Personal Data
Our current retention period for candidate data is 5 (five) years.
Data we keep includes your personal data, curriculum vitae, profile, email correspondence, and notes on face to face and telephone conversations.
You are able at any time to ask us to delete your data, modify your data, or provide your data to you (see “Your Rights” below).
Security
We, and our service providers, take stringent precautions – including administrative, technical and physical measures – to safeguard your personal data against loss, theft and misuse, as well as against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.
We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect your data, during transmission, once we receive it and in storing it, compliant with IASME Cyber Assurance Certification and ISO27001.
When your personal data is entered into our secure database and hard drive, all user identity is multi factor authenticated, technical protective measures are in place, and data is encrypted and backed up securely.
Legitimate Interest
We may also find information about you from public sources such as websites, social media networks or job boards; this sourcing is deemed to constitute legitimate interest on behalf of the recruiter/client as a reasonable expectation of contact would exist.
Your Rights
You may update your data with us, request copies of it or ask that it be deleted. To do so please contact the Data Protection Officer, Caroline Renouf, at caroline.renouf@thomasdessain.com.
If you wish to access your data or obtain confirmation on the data being held, we will carry out your request
within one month.
If you wish us to delete the data which you have provided, we will carry out your request within 7 days.
If you wish to modify the data which you have provided, we will carry out your request within 7 days.
Should you wish to make a complaint, object to the processing of your data or any aspect of this policy,

Changes to the Privacy Notice
This privacy notice may be changed by Thomas & Dessain at any time. If we change this privacy notice in the future we will set out these changes clearly.
